Agasti College

Agasti College Akole is a first college established in Akole Taluka in 1974. Full Name of Agasti College is Agasti Arts, Commerce and Dadasaheb Rupwate Science College. The college has been started with 94 students and 6 lecturers, the college has now 4500 students and 175 staff members.

Akole Taluka Education Society was established in March 1972 as a result of a long-standing demand from the local population for a center of higher learning in this area.In July 1974, college was began as 'Arts and Commerce College'. Now-a-days college bearing the name 'Agasti Arts, Commerce and Dadasaheb Rupwate Science College'. During these 39 years the college has developed its own basic infrastructure with the help of local funds, Government and U.G.C. assistance. The college now has a main building, separate building for science faculty, a very spacious and well stocked liabrary, a well-equipped gymnasium, a big play ground including 4 X 400 m running track, a closed auditorium, a well constructed theatre, boys' hostel, a separate water tank for drinking water and many other facilities. With the traditional courses, there are many courses undergoing in the college imparting technical education, computer education, information technology, agro-based courses relevant to the local conditions and a few post graduate courses also. In fact, it is a demand of changing times and as a premeir institution of higher learning in this area, we need to take into account the changes in the educational field and contribute to progress and prosperity of the local people.
